Dermaplaning

You may have dead skin cells and impurities sitting on your skin without even realizing it. These can create a rough, aged texture and can cause us to look older. To get smooth skin, many patients turn to dermaplaning. At Fargo Dermatology we offer the dermaplaning treatment to remove dead skin cells and impurities from our patients’ faces in order to promote healthy skin.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an effective, non-invasive treatment that helps to remove peach fuzz, dead skin cells, and dirt on the skin. It uses a special tool that is set at a forty-five-degree angle and is glided across the skin. While the skin is being held taught, this tool removes impurities from the skin’s surface. This is a deep exfoliation that cannot be reached with normal cleansers.  This creates smooth skin that looks young and healthy.

Benefits of Dermaplaning

  • Softens acne scars
  • Softens fine Lines
  • Removes peach fuzz
  • Exfoliates the skin
  • Skin feels soft and smooth immediately
  • Promotes deep product absorption

What Treatments Complement Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning can be done as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other skin treatments. Dermaplaning is often done as part of many facials and Hydrafacials®. Dermaplaning can also be combined with chemical peels which helps to enhance the depth of the chemical peel.

Dermaplaning Maintenance

There is no downtime associated with dermaplaning. Patients may experience some minor redness after their treatment but this will resolve over a few short hours. It is recommended that patients get dermaplaning every four to six weeks in order to maintain their results. Patients should also be careful to protect their skin from harmful environmental factors by using sunscreen and moisturizers regularly.
