CoolSculpting vs. CoolTone

CoolSculpting and CoolTone are two popular body contouring treatments offered at Fargo Dermatology. Although they have similar names, they are very different technologies used for different treatment goals. Here is what you need to know about both treatments so that you can decide which is right for you.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive fat-reduction treatment that uses an innovative fat-freezing technology called cryolipolysis. When the targeted fat cells are frozen, they die off and are flushed from the body. During treatment, the area will become numb from the cold but most patients do not find it to be uncomfortable.

What is CoolTone?

CoolTone comes from the same makers of CoolSculpting but this treatment is designed for body sculpting. CoolTone uses pulses of electromagnetic energy to trigger muscle contractions, similar to the contractions that occur during an intense workout. With a series of CoolTone treatments, muscle mass will gradually increase and you can enjoy a firmed, more toned appearance.

Treatment Areas

Both CoolSculpting and CoolTone can be used on the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks – three common areas where men and women desire a toned appearance. CoolSculpting comes with different-sized applicators and can also be used to eliminate stubborn fat on the back and bra line, hips, upper arms, and under the chin.

Which Treatment is Right for You?

The ideal candidates for CoolSculpting and CoolTone are healthy men and women who want to enhance the contours of their bodies. CoolSculpting is best for people who are within a healthy weight range and want to get rid of excess fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. Similarly, CoolTone patients should be at a healthy weight with a desire to build muscle and tone their appearance. If you don’t have time for the gym and want to see results more quickly, CoolTone could be a great treatment for you.

Can CoolSculpting and CoolTone be Combined?

If you are bothered by stubborn fat and low muscle mass, a combination of CoolSculpting and CoolTone can help you achieve your body goals. These treatments can be provided on the same day or one after the other. At your consultation, we will be happy to discuss a combined CoolSculpting and CoolTone treatment plan and help you determine which course of treatment is best for your unique goals.

CoolSculpting Results

CoolSculpting provides incredible results after just one treatment, but some patients require a series of 2-3 treatments to achieve their goals. You can expect to see up to 25% fat reduction after one treatment. A slimmer appearance will gradually appear after one month as the fat cells are flushed from the treatment area.

CoolTone Results

Although significant improvements in muscle tone can be seen after one CoolTone treatment, most patients receive 3-4 treatments scheduled a few days or a few weeks apart. Multiple treatments will also help you maintain the incredible results of your treatment. An increase in muscle mass and definition will occur gradually as the muscle fibers strengthen and firm.
