in Fargo, North Dakota
Throughout our lives, we can develop scars from everyday things like bike accidents, cooking, burns, surgery, acne, and more. Any type of cut or abrasion that distresses the layers of skin or leads to damaged skin can cause scar formation.
Scars can be very small or very large, and sometimes can cause self-image issues and a lack of confidence. Our team at Fargo Center for Dermatology is ready to help you treat your scars to regain self-confidence.
What are Scars? What is Scar Tissue?
Simply put, scars are marks left on the skin after an injury. The skin creates fibrous tissue that connects the healing skin with the uninjured skin tissue, and this leaves a mark on the skin. There are multiple kinds of scars that can be left on the skin, including hypertrophic scars, keloid scars, depressed scars, and more.
How Are Scars Treated?
Some people don’t mind scars, but to others, scars can be bothersome and irritating. If you wish to treat your scars, then it’s best to see a board-certified dermatologist. There are many different treatments for scars. These can include serums or lotions to help reduce the appearance of scars, or even laser scar revision treatment or microneedling to treat scars and remove scar tissue. Laser treatments are very common for scars, and they require very little downtime, making them one of the best treatment options available.

Scar Treatment Maintenance
After undergoing a procedure to help reduce scars and scar tissue, your skin will be a bit sensitive. Immediately following the procedure, your skin may be red for a few hours afterward, and you may also experience a mild sunburn sensation on the treated area. This is normal and can be managed by using a good moisturizer following the procedure. Dr. Ness can recommend your best options from our in-house line of products during your consultation.
